Spring-Ford Girl Dies At 14; Had 'Courage, Wisdom Beyond Her Age'

"Her warm smile, strength, dignity, and determination left a lasting legacy of how special this young woman was," her obituary reads.

ROYERSFORD, PA — Before Corinne Hare died of cancer at the age of 14 last week, she left a few things behind: numerous friends, family, her love of lacrosse, basketball, the beach, arts and crafts, and the grit and determination of a young child faced with a horrible illness.

"Throughout her battle with cancer, Corrine displayed courage and wisdom well beyond her young age," her obituary reads. "Her warm smile, as well as her strength, dignity, and determination left a lasting legacy of how special this young woman was."

The eighth grader also told her family that she wanted her funeral service to be a "celebration" and that everyone wear pink, her favorite color and the symbolic color in the war against cancer.

That's just what her service, a celebration of life, was.

And the Spring-Ford lacrosse team, a community she and her siblings have been a part of for years, is planning to honor her memory at an upcoming "Pink Out" game on Wednesday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. at McNelly stadium.
