ROYERSFORD, PA — Some good news amid all the bad news: Spring-Ford's music program has once again been honored with a national recognition for excellence.
It's the fourth year in a row that the district's music program has been honored with the NAMM Foundation's prestigious Best Communities for Music Education Award.
“We have known for many years that Spring-Ford’s student are outstanding musicians, from kindergarten through 12th grade, thanks to the dedication of our teaching staff and the ongoing support of our parent volunteers," David Goodin, Spring-Ford's superintendent, said in a statement. "Receiving this recognition for the fourth time solidifies what we have known to be true. I am quite proud of this exceptional group of students and teachers."S

The award program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education, the NAMM Foundation said.
Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an "exceptionally high" commitment to providing access to quality music education.

In order to qualify for the award, schools must provide information regarding funding, graduation requirements, facilities, participation in music classes, and more.
The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas reviews all submissions.
