First Student School Busses vs Raccoons - Raccoons winning!

Must read for Lower Moreland Parents who use First Student LARGE Busses - vans are not affected

Congratulations Lower Moreland School District for ranking high in your schools being healthy. However, if you looked into the LONG busses that transport your children to those healthy schools, you will find there is a raccoon problem. When the drivers find those little critters leaving their markings (defecation and urine) in their busses, they have to clean them up. Now, not sure if you realize what a health issue that is and I'm talking SERIOUS, I don't think you would want your children nor their drivers subjected to this. A few of these illnesses would be Raccoon Roundworm, Giardia and Leptospirosis. This was brought to the school districts attention a few weeks ago and they set "humane" traps. A few of the raccoons were caught but the others avoided them. Some of the drivers tried bungee cords to keep their doors shut at night, but, those raccoons still manage to open them and get in. The busses affected with these critters have a locking mechanism that should lock the doors. However, when asked about them, the drivers were told they do not have the keys to operate the locks. They were to clean up the mess when they find it. Wow, makes me want to run out and apply for a job with them!

Now, I am sure your taxes are high and you want the same quality in your bus service as you want in your schools. This is the end of the school year, but, keep in mind when September rolls around, unless you demand First Student Bus Service to fix the problem, then they shouldn't be transporting your children.

By the way, the shop steward was fired shortly after because he wanted to bring this very important health issue to the attention of the parents.
