Huntingdon Valley Fire Company Reminds Lower Moreland Township Residents, "Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives!!" at its Annual Open House
The Huntingdon Valley Fire Company will be hosting its Annual Fire Prevention Open House on Saturday October 11th from 11AM to 3PM.

Working smoke alarms can make a live-saving difference in a fire. That’s the message behind this year’s National Fire Prevention Week Campaign, “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month!!” Along with firefighters and safety advocates nationwide, Huntingdon Valley Fire Company is reminding local residents about the importance of having working smoke alarms in their homes and testing them on a monthly basis at its Annual Fire Prevention Open House scheduled for Saturday October 11th from 11AM to 3PM at the Huntingdon Valley Fire House located at 636 Red Lion Road in Huntingdon Valley, PA
Key points this year include the following smoke alarm messages: 1. Install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area and on every level of the home, including the basement. 2. Connect all smoke alarms throughout the house so when one sounds, they all sound. 3. Test smoke alarms at least once a month. 4. Replace all smoke alarms a minimum of every 10 years, or sooner if they don’t respond properly when tested. 5. Make sure everyone in the home knows the sound of the smoke alarm and knows what to do when they hear it.
In addition to promoting ”Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives!!” Huntingdon Valley Fire Company will be hosting other activities as part of National Fire Prevention Week. Firefighters will be demonstrating auto extrications using the “Jaws of Life”, PECO energy will demonstrate electrical safety, and SEPTA will offer transportation safety tips. For the kids, Huntingdon Valley will have their famous Zip Line set up, and kids will be able to suit up and put out real fires with real fire hoses. There will be live music during the whole event, as well as food,
