ICYMI: Bystanders And Horsham EMS Team Together To 'Bring A Man Back To Life'

“They literally brought a patient back to life with their care.”

Those were the words - awe-inspired, incredulous - used by the Horsham FIre Department Thursday to describe the team work of bystanders and an EMS squad to save a patient’s life.

Horsham EMS members were called to a scene in the township on Wednesday night where a man was undergoing cardiac arrest.

The EMS responders on the scene - Captain Matt Bowers, Medic and Firefighters Brian Focht, and Medic and Firefighter Matt Reinhardt - said that bystanders followed protocol perfectly.

When they saw the man was undergoing cardiac arrest, the called 911, attached an AED, and delivered a shock.

As soon as the EMS team arrived, they continued to work to break the life-threatening arrhythmia that was occurring.

By the time the team was ready to load the victim onto a stretcher and into a waiting ambulance, he was already talking and answering questions.

“If there is ever a sign as to why I chose this career and life, last night proved it,” Reinhardt wrote on Facebook. “This is what it is all about preserving and saving life.”
