Montco's Fitzpatrick Named 6th Most Bipartisan Member Of US Congress

Pennsylvania's U.S. Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick ranked 6th out of 435 members of the House of Representatives on a bipartisanship scale.

U.S. Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-8) was named the 6th most bipartisan member of Congress in a new Bipartisan Index ranking released by the Lugar Center.

The Index ranks all members of Congress based on how frequently they work across the aisle, advancing legislation with members of the opposite party.

Fitzpatrick’s score of 1.53753 trailed Republican Rep. Chris Gibson (NY), who led all Congressman with a 2.27089.

“While I am a proud Republican, I’ve worked in Washington under the belief that good ideas aren’t restricted to one party,” Fitzpatrick said. “The key to getting things done in Congress is being willing to work toward common goals — things like creating good-paying jobs, strengthening our infrastructure or addressing our national debt — regardless of where they come from.”

Recent examples of Fitzpatrick’s bipartisan efforts in Congress include his bill to cut government waste and a “Make Government Work” plan, supported by No Labels, to pass into law initiatives supporting bipartisanship.

The Lugar Center’s initiative was supported by Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy.
