As the fall semester at Montgomery County Community College gets underway, the Office
of Career Services has announced a series of online events geared to help students, alumni and community
members find their next career.
Takisha Mundy, Director of Career Services, says the virtual events will take place
throughout the semester, and are designed to fit the busy schedules of job seekers,
will sharpen their skills and prepare them to meet with potential employers.

“We’re so excited to get the fall semester underway,” she said. “We hope these upcoming
events will give job seekers the tools they’ll need to be successful and find their
dream career.”
Fall 2021 Employer Days will be held online Tuesday, Sept. 21 from noon-1 p.m. and againMonday, Nov. 15 from 2-3 p.m. Unlike a typical job fair, these events are more informal.
“They are each only an hour long,” said Mundy. “These events will allow students,
alumni and community members to explore and learn about different organizations and
their open positions. Recruiters will be looking for candidates to hire.”
The Career Services Team will collaborate with Samuel Coleman, Assistant Dean of Student
Affairs, to host Online Transfer Thursdays on Sept. 23, from noon-1 p.m. and Nov. 18, from 2-3 p.m. Both events are open to
the public. Participants will have an opportunity to engage with transfer reps from
local colleges and universities to learn more about their transfer requirements, academic
programs and scholarship opportunities.
“We encourage all students to attend no matter if it’s their first or second semester
at college,” said Mundy. “If your plans are to transfer, you will want to get a jumpstart
on what is required from your school of interest.”
On Instagram, Career Services will hold Lunchtime Live with Career Services. Each
session will focus on a different topic to prepare job seekers. On Monday, Sept. 27,
the topic is Meet the Career Services Team and learn all about their upcoming events
and services. On Monday, Oct. 11, the topic is “Virtual Career Fairs and Virtual Transfer
Fairs” to learn the best ways to navigate and prepare for a fair.
That’s followed by “Networking Do’s and Don’ts” on Monday, Oct. 25; “Virtual Interviews,
Are you ready to secure the job?” on Monday, Nov. 8 and lastly “Career Do’s, leveraging
friends and family” on Wednesday, Nov. 17.
“These events are held live on Instagram,” said Mundy, “so we encourage everyone to
follow the Career Services department on Instagram @Careerservicesmc3.”
Career Services will also host its Fall 2021 Online Workshops covering different topics
for job hunters including “Resume and Cover Letter Writing” on Tuesday, Sept. 28 from
10-11 a.m., “Networking and Career Fair Prep” on Monday, Oct. 4 from 10-11 a.m. and
“Are you on Linked IN?” on Tuesday, Oct. 19 from 2-3 p.m.
“These topics are really important,” said Mundy. “They never get old.”
Then on Tuesday, Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Career Services will host its Fall Online Career Fair. Over 45 employers are expected to be in attendance. Opportunities range from part-time
to full-time positions, with some employers offering the possibility of immediate
hires.
“This will be a more formal event,” said Mundy. “We will run a workshop leading up
to the larger fair to help folks feel more comfortable talking to employers. We’ll
go over how do we network and key things to remember, so they do well in preparation
leading up to it.”
Lastly, on Thursday, Oct. 28, Career Services will collaborate with Coleman again
for the Fall 2021 Online Transfer Fair. The day session will run from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. followed by an evening session from
4-6 p.m.
“The event is open to the community,” said Mundy. “It's an opportunity to connect
with four-year colleges and universities to learn more about their transfer requirements,
academic programs and scholarship opportunities.”
