Drivers in the Collegeville area should plan for delays as construction gets underway on the 221-year-old Ridge Pike bridge.

COLLEGEVILLE, PA — Drivers in the Collegeville area should plan for delays as construction gets underway on bridge that carries Ridge Pike over the Perkiomen Creek in Collegeville.
Work begins on Monday, June 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will last for several weeks, Monday through Friday.
Lanes will be restricted by flagging. Things will be especially slow the first few days as equipment is brought into place, officials said.

Restrictions will be effective between Germantown Pike and Route 29 through late August.
Rehabilitation work will include masonry repair, substructure replacement, cleaning, sealing, and more.

The stone masonry arch bridge was built in 1798 and then reconstructed in 1985. It carries an average of 11,038 vehicles per day, PennDOT said.
