Lidl Opening Up Trooper Store On Wednesday

The grand opening of the German grocer's latest Montgomery County chain will take place this week.

TROOPER, PA — The German grocer Lidl will hold the grand opening of their newest location in Trooper on Wednesday.

The long awaited store will open up on the corner of Trooper Road and Ridge Pike. Ribbon cutting ceremonies get underway at 7:40 a.m.

Various giveaways and special offers will be held throughout that weekend in celebration. The first 100 shoppers will receive a gift card ranging from $5 to $100, and there will be various free samples throughout the store.

"As a Philly native, I am extremely excited to bring Lidl's high quality and low prices close to home," Trooper Store Manager Darnell Mason said in a statement. "The team and I are eager to open our doors next month and introduce customers in Trooper to the award-winning, high quality products and convenient shopping experience."

Lidl has 10,800 stores globally, and their recent expansion in the U.S. has them at 65 stores domestically. That includes new branches in Upper Providence and Towamencin.

Lidl is opening in Trooper at an intersection that presently holds a Wawa and Citadel Bank at one corner and a Burger King at another. Lidl will move into the corner that previously held Norristown Ford, while a new Dunkin Donuts will slide into the other opening.

The newly built Trooper store will feature six wide aisles and "plentiful natural light," according to the company.

Hours will be 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Sunday.
