Malvern Fire Co. Breaks Ground on Expansion Saturday Morning
The firehouse will gain two bays, bunking quarters and a radio room.

Saturday morning, the will on a $1.3 million dollar expansion to the firehouse.
Who's invited? The general public, for starters. Plus, several personal invitations went out to county commissioners, borough council, Willistown supervisors, state Sen. Dinniman, state Rep. Milne and many more.
"We even invited Obama, to be honest with you," assistant fire chief Neil Vaughn said.

The expansion will add about 3,000 square feet in the form of two vehicle bays, a bunk area and some administrative space. The company's watch desk and radio room will be moved to the new area. Original plans called for grander changes, but were scaled down due to financial restraints.
The project is funded by $250,000 in state money and $1.1 million in federal stimulus money. Vaughn said the contractor, Schorn Construction, expects construction to take about 100 days.
