It was 1996 when a small group of local business and professional leaders first met to create an organization to help bridge the gap between businesses, the community, and sometimes local officials. That organization came to be known as the Marple Business and Professional Association (MBPA) and the support has been very important over the years to businesses in Broomall.
Marple Township is a wonderful place to do business and the local officials almost always understand the importance of a strong business climate to balancing the needs of the community. Growing businesses means jobs for local residents in Marple, which in turn provides a strong financial base to help support our schools, libraries, and community events.
Nonetheless, individual businesses here and there over the years have needed the help of the MBPA, to help find a way for local officials to keep this balance clear in minds when making decisions. Without the MBPA, Marple Businesses would be left on their own with no one to open the dialogue and help bridge the gap

The MBPA has started their Spring Membership Drive which runs through April 15th. Those who have businesses or professional offices in Marple are encouraged to join the MBPA and assure that the organization will continue to be there to help when the need is the greatest. Membership is only $1.35 a week, or $70 per year. Funds are also used to support the Community Pride Day, the July 4th Bike Brigade, the Holiday Tree Lighting, local food cupboards, and scholarships for Marple students. None of the board members receives any money for their efforts and all meetings are open to any business person or professional.
Interested persons are encouraged to contact MBPA president Bill McIntyre at 610-356-1010 or mcintyrew@franklin-tech.com.
