Armed Robber Targets Marple Hotel Early Monday Morning

Marple Township Police said a man armed with a handgun tried to rob a hotel in the township early Monday morning.

MARPLE TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Marple Township said a man tried to rob a hotel at gunpoint recently.

The incident occurred at about 2:05 a.m. Monday at Fairfield Inn & Suites, 100 Lawrence Road.

Police were called to the hotel for a report of an armed robbery attempt.

Minutes before police arrived, a man came into the lobby, came up to the front desk, and told an employee to fill a bag with money, according to police.

Police said the man had a black or dark gray semi-automatic pistol during the incident.

The man left the hotel on foot, heading toward Lawrence Road, police said.

The suspect was described as a black man, tall and thin, wearing all black clothes and a black ski mask.
