Blue Route Lane Closures Planned Sunday

Weather permitting, crews will paint traffic lines from just south of the Route 3 Interchange to the Interstate 76 Interchange.

Motorists will face overnight lane closures and delays when traveling on Interstate 476 from 9 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 28) to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 29) in Delaware and Montgomery counties, for line striping operations, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said Thursday.

Weather permitting, crews will paint traffic lines on northbound and southbound I-476 from just south of the Route 3 (West Chester Pike) Interchange to the Interstate 76 Interchange in Haverford and Radnor townships, Delaware County, and Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County.

PennDOT advises drivers to allow additional time for travel on I-476 because backups will occur in the construction areas.

Over the past month, PennDOT’s contractor resurfaced deteriorated areas of I-476 North from just south of Route 3 (West Chester Pike) to Route 30 (Lancaster Avenue) and from the County Line Road overpass to just south of the I-76 Interchange.

On I-476 South, crews resurfaced from the I-76 Interchange to the Route 30 (Lancaster Avenue) Interchange; from the bridge over Darby Creek to the Marple Road overpass; and from the Route 3 (West Chester Pike) Interchange to approximately a mile south of Route 3 (West Chester Pike).

The $1,827,777 pavement improvement project is financed with state funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania’s new transportation plan. Allan A. Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the project.
