Darby Watershed Cleanup Event In Newtown Planned For Saturday Morning
Newtown Township Parks and Recreation Chair Wade Pollock said just a few hours of volunteer time can have a positive environmental impact.
NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA — Community members are invited to help keep Darby Creek healthy at a cleanup event this weekend.
The Darby Creek Valley Association is hosting its 40th Annual Darby Watershed Cleanup.
The cleanup effort will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Those looking to support the cleanup can do so by showing up to Greer Park, on Winding Way, in Newtown Square.

"These events provide our residents the opportunity to improve our local parks and regional environment," Pollock told Patch. "Foxes Run, which flows through both parks, is one of the headwaters of Darby Creek and eventually the Delaware River.
By cleaning the watershed of litter and debris, volunteers can have a positive impact on downstream communities and wildlife habitats, Pollock said.
