Delco To Open Mass Coronavirus Vaccination Sites

Three mass coronavirus vaccinations sites are planned to open up in Delaware County in the future, according to officials.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — More and more people are being given the coronavirus vaccine, but many are still awaiting their turn to get the vaccine in hopes of returning to normal life.

Luckily, Delaware County is reportedly planning to establish mass coronavirus vaccination sites.

According to county officials, three mass vaccination sites will be open in the future.

As of Monday, 4,750 people in Delaware County have received partial vaccinations, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require two doses.

Officials Tuesday said one site will be located at the Delaware County Wellness Center in Yeadon, which is scheduled to open mid January. The locations for two other sites are being finalized, by Delaware County Council Vice Chair Dr. Monica Taylor told Action News the two other sites will likely be in central and western Delaware County.

For now, vaccine administration priority is focused on healthcare workers, who are under the Phase 1A plan for vaccine roll out.

The county is preparing to vaccinate the 1B priority group, which includes childcare staff, corrections staff, county and municipal administration staff, educators/education staff, firefighters, food and agriculture staff, grocery store staff, law enforcement, manufacturing staff, transit staff, U.S. Postal Service staff and residents age 75 years and older.

Residents and organizations are encouraged to fill out the Phase 1B Vaccine Interest Survey to indicate interest in receiving the vaccine.

In total, 144,863 people in Pennsylvania have received partial vaccinations, according to state data.
