Experience Dyslexia Wednesday At Marple Newtown High School
Attendees will get to experience a dyslexia simulation in order to better understand the language-based disability.
The Marple Newtown School District is hosting a program that will help attendees better understand dyslexia and other language-based disabilities through dyslexia simulations Wednesday night.
According to the district, the program will be held form 5 p.m.to 7:30 p.m. at Marple Newtown High School, 120 Media Line Road, Newtown Square.
The program and simulation are presented by the Pennsylvania Branch of the International Dyslexia Association.

The event is "a lively and thought-provoking program designed to increase awareness of the challenges and frustrations encountered daily by individuals with dyslexia and language-based learning disabilities," according to the district.
The PBIDA says simulations task participants with six simulated activities that mimic experiences and processing of those with dyslexia, including:

- Learn to Read simulates a beginning reading problem
- Listen to Me simulates an auditory figure-ground problem
- Write with Mirrors simulates a visual-motor and writing problem
- Name That Letter simulates a letter-word identification problem
- Write or Left simulates a copying and writing problem
- Hear and Spell simulates an auditory discrimination problem
