Major Projects on Route 3, Marple Road: Plan Alternate Routes
The resurfacing of Route 3 is expected to last until mid-November; Marple Road will be closed weekdays through Dec. 31.

Major road projects began this week in Marple Newtown.
A $5.8 million project to repair and resurface nearly 5 miles of Route 3 (West Chester Pike) in Delaware County began Monday, Sept. 15, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

Roadwork on Route 3 (West Chester Pike) will start at Lawrence Road and proceed east. Crews will repair the road base and adjust utility manholes weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and pave the highway on Sundays through Thursdays from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The contractor will work Friday nights and Saturdays in the event work is postponed during the week because of rain.
Motorists traveling on Route 3 (West Chester Pike) are advised to allow extra time during construction because slowdowns will occur when traffic is restricted to a single lane.

The resurfacing of Route 3 (West Chester Pike) is expected to finish in mid-November. Construction to install new curb ramps along the highway will continue through September 2015.
Marple Road was closed and detoured as of Monday, Sept. 16, PennDOT said. Aqua Pennsylvania is installing new water mains.
According to PennDOT:
Marple Road will be closed weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Dec. 31.
During construction, Marple Road through traffic will be detoured over Darby Road and Route 320 (Sproul Road). Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.
PennDOT says to expect delays, and to plan alternate routes if possible.
