Marple Road Closes Monday For Water Main Installation

Marple Road will be closed weekdays through Dec. 31.

Aqua Pennsylvania will close and detour Marple Road between Darby Road and Route 320 (Sproul Road) in Marple and Haverford townships, Delaware County, beginning Monday (Sept. 15) for the installation of a new water main, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Thursday. Marple Road will be closed weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Dec. 31.

During construction, Marple Road through traffic will be detoured over Darby Road and Route 320 (Sproul Road). Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

Aqua Pennsylvania will complete the work under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.

The utility work is being done in advance of PennDOT’s project to resurface Marple Road between Darby Road and Route 320 (Sproul Road) next spring. Additional work in advance of paving will start in October when PennDOT begins repairing the road base on areas of Marple Road.
