Meet the Chef: Chef Armand of Soprano's Deli

This week food writer Clara Park sat down with Chef Armand of Soprano's Deli for a quick fire interview.

There is one man who is the heart and soul of the kitchen at in Broomall. He works 90-100 hours a week to make sure that the food is delicious and well prepared. We were lucky to have a few moments with the man behind the menu, who prefers to be simply called by first name.

First Kitchen Job: Catering

Biggest Kitchen Disaster: My freezer broke, and everything went bad. There was $7,000 worth of damage in terms of lost food, broken equipment and repairs.

Advice for Home Cooks: Don't go light on seasoning. Be passionate. Keep it simple.

Favorite Thing to Cook: I love to do traditional Italian cooking, using homemade ingredients, garlic, basil and herbs.

Favorite Local Restaurant: I don't get out much.

Favorite Restaurant in the World: I had a very very good meal in Istanbul on the Mediterranean Sea. It was a seafood dish that was cooked in a salt crust.

Guilty Pleasure (food or drink): Homemade tiramisu

Last Meal on Earth: Probably dessert. I have a sweet tooth.
