Romano’s Stromboli Wins Herr's Flavored By Philly Contest
The Delaware County Italian restaurant that invented the Stromboli won this year's contest with its Special Hot Stromboli flavor.
ESSINGTON, PA — The chip lovers have spoken: Romano’s Stromboli has won the Herr's Flavored By Philly potato chip contest.
The Delaware County restaurant that created the iconic Stromboli will win $10,000 as a result, and John Lishok, who submitted the nomination, will also receive $5,000.
Talluto’s and Mom Mom’s Kitchen, which had cheese ravioli with marinara sauce and pierogi flavored chips in the contest, respectively, will also receive $2,500 each. Those who nominated them will earn $1,000, too.

In this year's contest, 26,360 people voted for heir favorite Philadelphia flavor, a nearly 50 percent year-over-year increase in votes
Romano’s Stromboli, a Philadelphia staple since 1950, was founded by Nazzereno Romano. The original Stromboli was crafted right here in Philadelphia and is still made using the same time-honored methods today.

Now under the third generation of family ownership with Peter Romano at the helm, Romano’s continues to serve up Strombolis that are rich in history and flavor.
