• Scout earns Eagle Scout with Glade Run Lake safety station (butlereagle.com) — A Mars Area High School sophomore and Troop 400 Scout has installed a new water safety and rescue station at Glade Run Lake, offering clear instructions and emergency equipment for visitors. The Eagle Scout project, finished September 26, adds visible signage, safety tips, and a throwable life ring to help prevent drownings and improve lake safety for local families.
   

• Pennsylvania Girls Cross Country Performer of the Week (Sep. 28-Oct. 4) (milesplit.com) — Mars Area runner Hailey Long is nominated for Pennsylvania girls cross country performer of the week after dominating a meet against North Allegheny, winning by nearly two minutes.
