Fruit flies, lack of hot water: What Cumberland County restaurant inspectors found (pennlive.com) — Recent health inspections found Mechanicsburg Area Middle School temporarily out of compliance because its hot water system couldn't supply sufficiently hot water to kitchen sinks, though a workaround was set up. Tawakal Market in Mechanicsburg passed with violations, including fruit flies on packaged raisins and labeling issues, while several nearby schools and eateries were fully compliant, giving residents a clear picture of current food-safety conditions.
   

2. Central Pa. realtor completes transactions in Mechanicsburg, Lower Swatara (cpbj.com) — A fully leased 22,000-square-foot office building on West Port Drive in Mechanicsburg has been sold to Rocky Two Investments, LLC, in a deal brokered by Lemoyne-based RSR Realtors. The firm also handled a large residential land sale in Lower Swatara Township for a future housing development, underscoring ongoing regional growth that can affect local jobs, traffic, and services.
   

3. Five Penn students named 2026–2028 Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholars (upenn.edu) — Mechanicsburg's own Zoya Hasan has been named a 2026–2028 Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholar, supporting her International Relations studies at Penn and her work mentoring refugee children through the Hikmah Foundation. She joins four other Penn students in receiving substantial tuition aid, travel funding, and leadership development aimed at future public-service careers.
   

4. Cheapest gas stations in Pennsylvania (centredaily.com) — Two Mechanicsburg stations on the Carlisle Pike—Costco and CV Mart—made the statewide list of cheapest gas, both posting regular fuel at $4.11. The roundup compares prices from across Pennsylvania, giving local drivers a quick snapshot of where Mechanicsburg stands against other towns when planning fill-ups.
