Delco Man Killed By Cops On I-95 In Philadelphia Was 'Innocent,' Girlfriend Says

Anthony Allegrini Jr., 18, of Glen Mills, was shot and killed by Pennsylvania State Police amid a massive car race/meet up in Philadelphia.

GLEN MILLS, PA — The 18-year-old Delaware County man who was shot and killed by Pennsylvania State Police in Philadelphia this weekend was innocent, his girlfriend said.

Anthony Allegrini Jr., 18, of Glen Mills, died after being shot by state police at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday on southbound Interstate 95 at mile marker 21 near Penn’s Landing.

Authorities said Allegrini with a vehicle struck two troopers who were responding to the area for a report of numerous vehicles and people in the roadway and racing, police said.

One of the troopers shot Allegrini with a service pistol, killing him at the scene, according to police.

"I do agree that that might not be the most safe thing to do in the world," Allegrini's girlfriend Reagan Hocking told NBC10. "But what's not safe is a cop showing up and killing an innocent life."

On social media, Hocking called for police to be "held accountable for their actions."

"This world, especially our police force system needs to be changed," she said online.

"Never in my life would I think anything like this would happen," she said in speaking with Fox 29, calling Allegrini a "respectful" "beautiful soul."

Hocking told Action News she wants the "truth to come out" about the incident.

She suggested Allegrini was not in the vehicle when he was shot.

Video from the scene reportedly shows a Pennsylvania State Police vehicle with a person laying in the road, which is being used to support Hocking's allegation, according to reports.

State police and the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office are investigating, authorities said.
