Elusive Blackbear Reportedly Trapped In Ridley Creek State Park

The bear has been relocated to Dauphin County, reports say.

The black bear that had been reported in Radnor is reported to have been trapped and relocated thanks to the Pennsylvania Game Commission and state park rangers.

According to the Delaware Count Daily Times, Pennsylvania Game Commission Wildlife Conservation Officer Justin Ritter said the bear has been relocated to state game lands in Dauphin County after it was living in Ridley Creek State Park.

Ritter told the outlet that the bear was not a threat to the public, but its sightings caused stirs in the area, prompting a school to go on lockdown and searches for the bear. The bear even chased one Radnor Township Police Officer off his motorcycle.

The bear was located after park rangers monitored bear sighting reports, according to the outlet. Ritter told the publication that donuts, maple syrup, and of course honey were used to lure the bear into a trap.

Ritter said trapping and relocating the bear was best for the 210-pound, roughly 3-year-old bear.

Ritter did not mention if the bear was the bear reported in Easttown Township in September. State Game Commission Officers said the Easttown bear was likely the Radnor bear.
