MEDIA, PA – After the tragic shooting at a school in Florida, student safety is at the forefront of the national discussion. One data compiler has revealed which Pennsylvania school districts rank highest in this category.
How did Rose Tree Media School District fare in Niche.com's list of the Safest School Districts for 2018?
RTMSD found itself in the top 10 safest in Pennsylvania, and in the top 30 of the nation's safest.

Based on information from the U.S. Department of Education, the FBI, parent reviews and other data, RTMSD was ranked the 22nd safest in PA.

The teachers truly care about the students' well being and education. The school environment feels safe and open, because of the teacher and administration's efforts to accommodate all students. This is applicable in all of the schools that I attended. Indian Lane Elementary School, Springton Lake Middle School, and Penncrest High School all brought outstanding school experiences. My Junior and Senior year, a grant was established to give the students ipads. This was an extremely privileged situation that the experience.
The comprehensive curriculum allowed me to explore many different areas of interest with ease and prepared me for college.
I've had a great experience throughout my 13 years in this district. The teachers are great for the most part, and I always had the resources I needed.
To compile the ranking, 50 percent was based on parent and student surveys on health and safety. Student absenteeism, suspensions and expulsions were also factored into the rankings, well as percentage of students referred to law enforcement and school-related arrests.

Nearby, the Radnor Township School District was ranked the safest school district in the state and the country.
Other nearby schools that made the top 50 safest in PA include Haverford Township, Marple Newtown, and Tredyffrin Easttown school districts.
