• Franklin County opens cooling sites as heat soars (publicopiniononline.com) — Mont Alto residents can use the local senior activity center on South Main Street as a cooling site during this week’s dangerous heat, with regular hours available even as some other centers extend into the evening. Franklin County is keeping Chambersburg and Greencastle centers open later on July 15 and monitoring conditions for further changes. Call the Area Agency on Aging for details on hours, activities, and lunch menus.

• July 11 – 12, 2026 (pasenategop.com) — State lawmakers just advanced a large package of bills, including measures that affect Penn State Mont Alto by loosening old deed restrictions on certain campus properties. While most of the action centers on statewide budgets, licensing, and criminal justice changes, Mont Alto’s inclusion in the property provisions could shape how the university uses or redevelops some of its land in the future.
