When I moved to Solebury Township with my family almost eight years ago, I was excited to make it our new home. Growing up, I loved visiting New Hope, and I was grateful to become part of the community in adjacent Solebury Township.

In the years since, we’ve come to appreciate the warm sense of community here, and I have had a unique and valuable opportunity to contribute directly to the civic life of Solebury Township, through my involvement with the Solebury Township Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC) for the past six years. I am currently the Co-Chair of the EAC, and I am proud of our committe’s efficient and consistent work on behalf of our community to promote important environmental initiatives, such as reducing plastic waste, protecting local ecosystems and habitats, developing a sustainable energy transition plan, stormwater management and environmental education, to name just a few.

My commitment to Solebury Township extends beyond caring for the environment. I am also the Projects Coordinator for New Hope-Solebury Cares, a local non-profit that focuses on substance abuse prevention in teens and young adults. A large part of my role involves reaching out to various sectors of our community, including local businesses, parents, schools and other charitable organizations, to find ways we can work together to bring education and support to adolescents and families.

My professional background as an attorney provides me with a broad skill set, including the ability to efficiently spot issues associated with the development, interpretation and enforcement of Township ordinances, as well as any other legal challenges that might arise.

Lastly, and most importantly, I am a parent of school-aged children. I have the perspective needed to bring compassion and receptivity to the wants and needs of families who live in Solebury Township. This includes listening to what many folks in Solebury Township would like to see happen with the development of a multi-use green space on the site of the former flea market along Route 202, as well as improved public walkways throughout the Township.

Christy Cheever is running for Solebury Township supervisor- to find out more about her, visit www.Christy4Solebury.com and don’t forget to vote on November 7th.
