Award-Winning Artist To Lead Print-Making Workshop In Solebury

Participants will design and cut a print block and produce their own prints with Thomas overseeing and assisting.

SOLEBURY TOWNSHIP, PA — The public is invited to sign up for an afternoon of hands-on printmaking instruction with award-winning Bucks County artist Dean Thomas of Sellersville.

The Phillips’ Mill Community Association will host Thomas on Saturday, June 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. for a workshop on color reduction printmaking. Following an overview of various printmaking techniques and a demonstration of the color reduction process, participants will design and cut a print block and produce their own prints with Thomas overseeing and assisting.

Dean Thomas is a Buck’s County painter and printmaker specializing in hand-painted drypoint engravings, color woodcuts, and oil paintings. He is a graduate of Glassboro State College (now Rowan University), where he earned his BFA in printmaking.

Thomas has been inspired and influenced by the Hudson River School artists as well as the impressionists and tonalists of the New Hope School. He has lived in Bucks County since 1995, has had several solo and group shows, and has shown in many juried shows including the annual Juried Art Show at Phillips' Mill where he won the Bridgeview Award in 2021. His work can be seen at the Chapman Gallery and Patricia Hutton Galleries in Doylestown, the Main Street Gallery in Quakertown, and Chimayo Gallery in Perkasie.

The workshop will be held in the historic, 18th-century Phillips’ Mill at 2619 River Road just north of New Hope. Registration is required and limited to 15 participants.
