Aquetong Park Reopens In Solebury Following 'Large Feline' Sighting
Police said the animal was spotted by a resident who reported it roaming the park's trails.

SOLEBURY TOWNSHIP, PA — Aquetong Spring Park was closed for several hours on Wednesday after a "large feline" was reported in the park.
Solebury Township Police closed the 48 acre park at Route 202 and Lower Mountain Road Wednesday morning after a concerned citizen reported the "large feline' roaming the trails. The park was reopened early Wednesday afternoon but with a caution from police "to keep your distance and to call police" if the large feline is spotted.
"The 'large feline' appears in several video clips and is about 20" in height from ground to top of back with black fur," said police in an update. "We are looking to see if anyone in the area is missing a large black domesticated cat, if so please contact us."

In October, a "large cat, possibly a mountain lion" was reported roaming Lower Macungie Township in the nearby Lehigh Valley. In that case a resident had captured a photo of the cat and provided it to law enforcement officials.
According to Lehighvalleylive.com, from that photo the game commission was able to determine the animal to be just a "large feral cat."

The game commission also told the news organization that "no mountain lion, cougar or panther" is known to exist in Pennsylvania, at least in the wild. And they haven’t since the 1870s.
