Masonic Building A Stop On Lambertville's 40th Autumn House Tour

The self-guided tour will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22 and will feature 10 buildings in the city.

LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. — The impressive Masonic Building at 19 Bridge Street will be featured on Sunday's 40th Anniversary Autumn House Tour hosted by the Lambertville Historical Society.

The self-guided tour will take place on Sunday, Oct 22 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature 10 buildings in the city, including Washington's Headquarters and the Union Fire Station.

The impressive 19th Century eclectic style Masonic building was constructed in 1877 by builder James Bird from plans created by the noted architect Samuel Sloan of Philadelphia.

"We are honored to visit its remarkable rooms as part of this house tour," said the historians.

Known as the Masonic Building, it serves as home to the Amwell Lodge No.12. Established June 16, 1847, the lodge occupies the entire third floor and has been active since its founding.

The Free Accepted Masons are a fraternal organization, rich in history, of men working towards “making good men better.” Freemasons are involved in the “betterment of one’s self and the giving to charity.”

This building was also home to Lambertville’s first public library.
