Massive Stone And Bronze Sculpture Installed In New Hope

Harry Gordon's "Axis Mundi" has landed on the grounds of the First National Bank & Trust Company's Solebury branch.

NEW HOPE, PA — New Hope Arts is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its public arts program by renewing its commitment to the program and with the installation of a new piece of art.

As part of its newly-named Public Sculpture Program, Harry Gordon's "Axis Mundi" landed on the grounds of the First National Bank & Trust Company's Solebury branch at 408 Lower York Road, New Hope, on March 5.

The massive stone and bronze artwork was installed by Gordon Sculpture, L.L.C. of Lambertville with a second larger crane provided by Andrew Logan of Sky Boom Service L.L.C. of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Public sculpture in New Hope begun in 2003 with an initiative by New Hope Art's founder Robin Larsen and other supportive New Hope residents. The program is distinguished as one of the first public art programs in the region. New Hope Arts administers the program, chaired and supported by New Hope resident Pamm Kerr.
