NEW HOPE, PA — Two new part-time police officers will be hitting the streets in New Hope Borough this spring.

In a unanimous vote at its June meeting, council hired Dylan Maddux and Troy Rodgers as part-time patrol officers.

The new hires will bring the department’s part-time staff up to seven, four of which have full-time jobs elsewhere limiting their availability, said Chief Kevin Edwards.

“Bringing Officers Maddux and Phillips on will help in filling the extra shifts that are available due to two officers I have being out,” said Edwards.

Maddux graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2023. He subsequently graduated from the Montgomery County Community College’s municipal police training program.

“Maddux is currently working part-time in Newtown Borough where he has gained valuable law enforcement experience serving the community and performing patrol related duties,” said Chief Edwards.

Rodgers previously worked for the department in 2024, “demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and a strong commitment to serving the residents and visitors of New Hope,” said Chief Edwards.

“Having previously served with the department, Officer Rodgers is familiar with our policies, procedures and patrol operations. He remains trained and prepared to immediately return to his patrol duties with minimal transition,” said Edwards.

“Given his proven performance, familiarity with the department and his readiness to resume patrol, I believe Officer Rodgers will be a valuable addition to our patrol rotation,” added Edwards.

Officer Rodgers recently left the department to take a full-time job, but has since asked to return to New Hope.

Rodgers served as a member of the United States Army and is still an active member of the National Guard. He lives with his wife in the Quakertown area.
