New Hope To Salute Its Veterans With Weekend Walking Tour
The tour will trace the lives of a dozen borough residents who served in wars beginning with the American Revolution.

NEW HOPE, PA — The New Hope Historical Society will salute its veterans with a Veterans Day weekend walking tour on Saturday, Nov. 9. Participants will meet at 1 p.m. on the back porch of the Parry Mansion on South Main Street.
The group will take a special historical walking tour through the town tracing the lives of a dozen New Hope residents who served in wars beginning with the American Revolution.

Looking ahead, the society’s next program - the Evolution of the Gingerbread Man - takes place on Nov. 23 at the Parry Mansion. The cost is $10.
Participants will experience a fun and interactive event at the mansion hosted by the New Hope Historical Society and featuring a fascinating history of everyone's favorite holiday treat, the Gingerbread Man, with Heart to Hearth Cookery's Susan McLellan Plaisted.

The program will focus on the manuscript receipt (recipe) Gingerbread of Jane Paxson Parry, the wife of Benjamin Parry (1787). Samples of her gingerbread and her actual receipt adapted for the modern cook will be available.
In addition, Plaisted will demonstrate and provide directions on building a Sweetmeat Cone using Jane Parry's gingerbread. The evolution of gingerbreads through the centuries will also be on display.
