NEW HOPE, PA — Reed Finch, a member of Troop 24 in New Hope and a senior at New Hope-Solebury High School, has advanced to the rank of Eagle, having achieved Scouting's highest award.

Since its creation in 1912, two million Scouts, or about six percent of its members, have earned the award, which requires hours of work, a requisite number of merit badges, demonstrated leadership and advancement through the ranks.

In addition, Scouts must complete an Eagle project to earn the award. Reed’s project involved the creation of a 1.5-mile self-guided trail at the Bucks County Audubon Society's Honey Hollow Education Center in Solebury.
