BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Once a year we get to relive an hour of our lives.

At 2 a.m. early Sunday morning, Nov. 6 Daylight Saving Time ends and Standard Time begins as much of the nation sets its clocks back one hour.

With the return to Standard Time, Bucks County firefighters remind the public to not only change their clocks, but also to make another change that could be life saving - changing the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

“A working smoke alarm provides an early warning and critical extra seconds to escape,” said fire officials. “Changing smoke and carbon monoxide alarm batteries at least once a year is one of the simplest, most effective ways to reduce these tragic deaths and injuries. In fact, a working smoke alarm nearly cuts in half the risk of dying in a home fire.”

According to fire officials, the most commonly cited cause of non-working smoke alarms is worn or missing batteries.
