NEWTOWN, PA -- Two DUI crashes were reported in Newtown Township over the past few days, and a third person was arrested for DUI in a separate incident.
A 27-year-old Philadelphia man was arrested following a two-car crash at the Newtown Bypass and Buck Road on Feb. 25. Police said James Rockwell admitted smoking marijuana an hour before the crash. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Then, shortly after midnight on Feb. 28, a one-car crash was reported on Rushland and Sackettsford roads. The driver, Byran Michael Cieslak, 43, of Doylestown, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, police said. Cieslak was unable to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
