3rd Nor'easter Storm A Possibility Early Next Week In PA

We have nothing more to say but ENOUGH ALREADY.

You may have heard the chatter of a potential third nor'easter storm on the way. Maybe you are choosing to ignore this possibility or simply praying it's just not true. We know how you feel.

But we regret to inform you that this is a very real possibility. AccuWeather predicts there is a chance a storm that is expected to bring rain and thunderstorms to the South over the weekend could eventually mean another round of snow to the Northeast.

There are two possible scenarios, according to forecasters with Accuweather: The storm could move to the south, off the Virginia coast, or it could track north. And if if heads north, that could mean yet another winter storm for our region Sunday into Monday.

"During early next week, the storm will reach the southern Atlantic coast and may continue to head eastward and well out to sea or may reorganize, strengthen and turn northward," according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski.

A track straight out to sea would mean no heavy precipitation for most of our area. A northward track that hugs the coast "might mean another nor'easter" with strong winds and heavy rain or even snow, AccuWeather said.

Those are not the words we wanted to hear.

The news of this possible storm comes after back-to-back Nor'easters that devastated the area.

The first storm descended upon the region Friday. It was supposed to be mainly rain, but it didn't turn out that way. Significant snow fell, dropping as much as 9 inches in some parts of suburban Philadelphia. Widespread power outages resulted from the Friday storm — as much as a half a million customers in Eastern Pennsylvania were without electricity at one point.

Many people didn't get their power back for days — just in time for the next storm to come Wednesday and knock it right back out again.

Wednesday's storm was a monster, dumping as much as 16 inches of snow in suburban Philadelphia. Roads were not passable, schools were closed and more mass power outages resulted. As of Thursday morning, about 55,000 PECO customers have no power. The bulk of those outages are in Bucks County, where 44,000 outages remain.

Check back for updates as we continue to monitor this possibility of a third winter storm.
