Local charity crocheted & knitted newborn red hats for the nationwide "Little Hats - Big Hearts" project
The American Heart Association -
"Volunteers from around the country are joining the American Heart Association, in connection with The Children's Heart Foundation, to celebrate American Heart Month by knitting and crocheting red hats for babies born in February at participating hospitals. Little Hats, Big HeartsTM, honors babies, moms, and heart healthy lives in a very special way. Supporters are knitting and crocheting red hats to be given out to thousands of babies during American Heart Month in order to empower moms to live heart healthy lives and to help their children do the same.
Together, we are working to raise awareness, provide resources and inspire moms to take their family’s heart health to heart while also raising awareness about Congenital Heart Defects."
Our charity in Newtown is called "Granny Dot - Keeping Kids Warm". We have just sent our little red hats to the American Heart Association. These will be given to newborns & preemies in Philadelphia hospitals. What we do is to knit, crochet, quilt, sew, or purchase items for children in need of warmth & comfort. We have donated to local as well as to other locations - St Mary's Hospital, A Woman's Place, HomeFront Homeless Shelter in NJ, Legacy of Life, CHOP, St Christophers, & Shriner's hospitals in Philadelphia, some Native American reservations, and the "Children in Cars" project (Fatima Outreach).
If anyone would like to join our group, you can email me at bccmfenton@comcast.net or call me at 215 208 5815. Please join our FB page https://www.facebook.com/group...
Some of our members make items, others purchase them, some donate yarn, and others are our "cheerleaders"! We also have a lot of fun meeting up.
