17-year-old Newtown area native Camille Schrier was named National American Miss Pennsylvania Teen 2012 on August 13, 2012 at the state competition of the National American Miss organization, held at the Hilton Hotel in Harrisburg, PA. The contestants were scored in four categories including individual interviews with six judges which comprised 30% of the score, formal wear competition also 30%, personal introduction 30% and community involvement 10%. She was also named the winner of the optional Spokesmodel, Casual Wear and Most Promising model competitions, was first runner up in the Photogenic category and received the Volunteer Service Award.
Camille, a resident of Upper Makefield Township entering her senior year as a high honor student at The Hun School of Princeton, enjoys the challenges of an academically rigorous curriculum and plans to pursue a degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering after completing high school. She is captain of the track & field team and has been a member of the varsity field hockey and swimming teams. Outside of school, Camille is a volunteer for the Bucks County Emergency Homeless Shelter and Special Equestrians, in addition to other organizations. Through her website and her activities, Camille raises awareness of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a genetic disorder which affects her, and promotes positive teen choices. She is a certified American Red Cross lifeguard and enjoys equestrian sports, photography, gardening and participating annually in the Middletown Grange Fair.
“National American Miss is a pageant for Today’s Girl and Tomorrow’s Leaders” says Ms. Schrier. “ The program is based on inner beauty, poise, presentation and offers an "All American Spirit" of fun for family and friends. Emphasis is placed on self-confidence, learning new skills, learning positive attitudes about competition, and setting and achieving personal goals.”
In addition to her cash winnings, Camille will have her fees paid to represent Pennsylvania during Thanksgiving week at the National American Miss competition to be held at the Marriott Convention Center in Anaheim, California, where she will compete to win a share of over $500,000 in cash and prizes, including a new mustang convertible.
