Bomb Disposal Unit To Deploy 'Beeping' Eggs At Bucks County Hunt
The 'beeping' eggs will allow the blind and visually impaired to take part in the Easter tradition.

NEWTOWN, PA — A Bucks County egg hunt already known for including adults and grandparents in its spring scramble is adding a new element this year.
The Newtown Rotary Club is teaming up with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Disposal Unit to bring “beeping eggs” to this year’s hunt to allow the blind and visually challenged to join in the fun.
The Rotarians will kick off its annual community egg hunt with a hunt designed especially for the blind and the visually impaired. It is scheduled for Saturday morning, March 23 beginning at 8:45 a.m. on the grounds of the Goodnoe Elementary School in Newtown Township.

According to egg hunt organizer Paul Salvatore, the bomb squad will be bringing its handmade "beeping" eggs, which they will activate and scatter across the field. Members of the blind and visually impaired community will then be allowed to search for the eggs by following the beeps.
Salvatore said blind and visually impaired parents and their children are invited to take part, but he is asking that they reach out to him by March 20 to reserve a place at the hunt. Contract Salvatore at 267-312-3527 or via email at Salvatorepaul@hotmail.com .

“We’re not limited to Newtown. This is for anyone who is blind or visually impaired - children or adults,” said Salvatore. “The eggs will have beepers inside so they can find them. We will then give all the participants candy. The whole object is they get to do an Easter egg hunt,” he said.
The "beeping eggs" are part of the Rotary Club's annual Community Egg Hunt which also takes place Saturday morning, March 24 at Goodnoe Elementary School.
The community egg hunt will begin promptly at 9:15 a.m. and will progress through the age categories from youngest to oldest. Each category will include a "Golden Egg" good for a prize valued at $75 and up.
This year’s age group categories are 0-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8-9, 10-11-12, 13-17, grandparents and 18 and over (parents and adults).
Before the start of the hunt, members of Action Karate and BC Discoveries Dance and Theater will entertain the crowd. The Easter Bunny will also be there making the rounds.
The egg hunts are free and open to the public.
