Boo! October is 'Fright Month' at Newtown Theatre

A series of spooky films is planned throughout October at the Newtown Theatre.

The Newtown Theatre is planning a series of spooky films next month leading up to a Halloween night “mini fright fest.”

The fright kicks off Oct. 6 with a screening of “The Tingler.” Next up is “The Bride of Frankenstein” on Oct. 12 followed by “Dracula”on Oct. 20. The classic “Ghostbusters” will be shown on Oct. 27. All of those films start at 7 p.m.

Then, on Friday, Oct. 31, the main event will kick off at midnight, when a trio of horror classics are screened. For $10, viewers can see the following films: “Freaks,” “The Killer Shrews,” and “Bride of the Monster.”

Plus, on Saturdays in October, the theatre will offer the following family matinees:

  • “Monster House” – Oct. 4 at 11 a.m.
  • “Hotel Transylvania” – Oct. 11 at 11 a.m.
  • “Frankenweenie” – Oct. 25, showing at the conclusion of the annual Newtown Halloween Parade
