Brick Hotel Listing Withdrawn After Debacle Between Owner, Agent

The real estate firm hired by the Brick Hotel says it has "temporarily suspended" its marketing efforts after a week-long debacle.

The real estate firm hired by the Brick Hotel to market the property says it has "temporarily suspended" its efforts after nearly a week of confusion surrounding whether the property was ever for sale in the first place.

"We maintain a signed listing agreement but as a courtesy to the owners, we have elected to temporarily suspended our marketing efforts to allow a chance for continued conversation between myself and the owners outside of the limelight," real estate agent Chichi Ahia said in a statement to Patch.

The debacle began about a week ago, after a listing by Ahia Commercial Real Estate went live online showing the property was for lease and for sale. At that time, Ahia confirmed to Patch the asking price was $6 million for the property that was recently featured on FOX's "Hotel Hell."

However, restaurant owner Verindar Kaur disputed that the restaurant was ever for sale, calling the listing "a mistake." She said she thought she signed an agreement for an operating partner.

That assertion has been emphatically denied by Ahia, who earlier this week said he was "confused and disappointed" by Kaur's assertions the property is not available.

"To be clear, our firm was in fact solicited and retained by the ownership of the Brick Hotel to solicit offers for sale and/or lease. The listing agreements that were signed by the ownership not only authorized, but mandated our efforts. Our assignment has been clear since the outset," Ahia said.

The much-anticipated episode of "Hotel Hell" featuring Gordon Ramsay aired in late June. Ramsay was highly critical of the establishment, even pulling the fire alarm at one point, saying the place should be "shut down" due to sanitary conditions.

Kaur has since said she regrets being featured on the reality television show, telling the Courier Times that since then, the establishment has experienced a decline in business.
