Police in Newtown continue to investigate the theft of a car on Northrup Court, in the same neighborhood where several car break-ins were reported the same night.

Newtown Township Police said officers were dispatched to a Northrup Court residence at approximately 2 a.m. on April 20 after a resident called to report someone had stolen his car. The resident explained that he was awake and heard his car start. When he looked out his window, he saw his Nissan Altima being driven away.

While investigating that theft, officers saw a 2000 Mazda Miata parked in the area with the driver’s door slightly ajar and the glove compartment open. Police talked to the vehicle's owner, who said the car had been unlocked, but that he had not left a door or the glove compartment open. The owner did not notice anything missing, but the scene was processed as a part of the investigation.
