Celebrating 50 years of Theatre in Council Rock
The Sock'n'Buskin Drama Club is holding a 50th Anniversary Reunion on June 9 at Council Rock North High School
The 2017-2018 school year has been a landmark occasion for one of the longest running clubs in Council Rock history: Sock ‘n’ Buskin drama club, originating at Council Rock High School and continuing from the school split to present day at Council Rock North.
Sock ‘n’ Buskin is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and has made a profoundly influential impact on many generations of students involved in both acting and tech, lovingly referred to as “Buskies”. To commemorate the long-lasting importance of educational theatre at Council Rock, the current club leadership has spent nearly a year planning the upcoming 50th Anniversary Reunion Gala, to be held at the high school on the evening of June 9.
With nearly 200 Buskies and family members already planning to attend spanning from the graduating class of 1968 to the class of 2021, the gala promises to be an exciting and sentimental occasion to remember the incredible experiences of this theatre program and celebrate the directors and advisors that made Sock ‘n’ Buskin so special. There have been only 3 director/advisors in the history of the club - Dave Harris, Doug Stewart and Sandy Chantry - and ALL THREE of these extraordinary teachers will be attending this reunion.

“Sock n Buskin is where so many people discover who they are, what they love, and how to touch other people’s lives” says Izzy Taber, the current president of the club. “We can’t wait to meet everyone and share stories about our time as Buskies.” One of the founding members of the club, Maryann Sicilia Segal, class of 1970, is looking forward to joining her fellow Buskies at the reunion. “Sock N Buskin helped me to develop skills and talents that instilled confidence and gave me some of my fondest memories. I'm so looking forward to the 50th Anniversary Gala!”
