Citations Issued For Harassment, Trespassing: Newtown Township Police

The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Oct. 28 and Nov. 3:

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Oct. 28 and Nov. 3:

October 28

  • At approximately 1:30 p.m. a Wrightstown Township resident contacted police to report an excessive number of fraudulent purchases from their bank account. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

  • At approximately 1:15 a.m. police were dispatched to a Wrightstown Township residence for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, one subject was issued a citation for underage drinking.

October 31

  • At approximately 3:30 p.m. police were contacted by a Newtown Township resident in regards to harassment. As a result of the investigation, one subject was issued citations for harassment and trespassing.
  • A Newtown Township resident contacted police around 6:30 p.m. to report credit card fraud. The total value of loss was approximately $280. The matter was investigated and resolved by the bank’s fraud department.

November 1

  • Police were dispatched to a business located in Newtown Township shortly before 1:45 p.m. for the report of a catalytic converter theft from a work vehicle. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

November 2

  • Shortly after midnight, police conducted a traffic stop on a Honda sedan operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Eagle and Durham Roads. Upon speaking with the operator, the officer detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
  • The Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit conducted a commercial vehicle safety detail in the area of Washington Avenue and Elm Avenue in Newtown Borough. The unit is made up of officers from Newtown Township, Newtown Borough Police Department and the Upper Makefield Township Police Department. During the detail, eight trucks were stopped and inspected. One truck was placed out of service and seven citations and eight warnings were issued for violations that were found.

November 3

  • At approximately 11:45 p.m. police responded to the area of the Newtown Bypass and Newtown-Yardley Road for the report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. As a result of the investigation, one operator was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
  • At approximately 1 p.m. police were dispatched to Veterans Park for the report of an attempted theft from a vehicle. While police were on scene, they were notified of an attempted theft from an additional vehicle as well. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
