Projects are underway or are planned in Doylestown Borough, Plumstead Township and in Upper Makefield.

CENTRAL BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Here is the latest list of road and construction projects underway or planned in Central Bucks. Motorists are advised to use caution and take extra time when driving in these areas.
Doylestown Borough
- Two blocks of West State Street between Main and Clinton will be closed and detoured through Wednesday, July 24 as PennDOT mills and repaves the street. Detours will be posted and parking will not be allowed on the street. The PennDOT paving crew will be moving as fast as possible to reduce inconvenience and is coordinating with the Borough of Doylestown to expedite the project and reduce disruption.
Doylestown Township
- Weekday lane closures can be expected between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. through April 2026 on Easton Road at New Britain Road/Sauerman Road. Under this safety improvement project, PennDOT is constructing two adjacent single-lane roundabouts at the bifurcated intersection of Easton Road and New Britain Road/Sauerman Road. The roundabouts will include new drainage and sidewalks; ADA-compliant crossings; bicycle facilities, lighting, and full-depth pavement reconstruction.
Plumstead Township
- PennDOT will be closing Old Easton Road between Curly Hill Road and Route 611 on Tuesday, July 23 all day for a drainage pipe replacement. A detour will be posted. Emergency traffic only will be allowed with delays. Residents will need to navigate around the construction site. Traffic can use Curly Hill Road between Easton Road and Old Easton Road or Point Pleasant Pike.
- Beginning on Monday, July 29, Old Easton Road will be closed to thru traffic from Signature Drive to Point Pleasant Pike and then from Point Pleasant Pike to just north of Tohickon Middle School daily between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Paving will be completed in two passes allowing buses, emergency traffic and local residents to travel within the construction area working with traffic control flaggers. The residents of the Summer Hill/Summer Meadow developments will need to go south on Old Easton Road from Signature Drive or use Burnt House Hill Road to exit the development. Employees of Penn Engineering will need to access that facility from the Curly Hill Road side of Old Easton Road.
Upper Makefield
- The Lurgan Road Bridge will be closed and detoured through late November as crews replace the span over a branch of the Pidcock Creek. Local access will be maintained. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent. Built in 1910, the existing 16-foot-long, 23-foot-wide single-span concrete encased steel I-beam bridge will be replaced with a single-span concrete box culvert. The structure carries an average of 971 vehicles per day. Lurgan Road bridge is one of seven structures in Bucks and Montgomery counties that PennDOT is rehabilitating or replacing under this $7,987,000 project.
