Newtown Township Swears In New Full-Time Police Officer

After being enticed by another agency at a much higher pay scale, township's newest full-time officer chose Newtown.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors joined its police department on Wednesday night in welcoming a new officer to the township’s force.

District Judge Mick Petrucci was on hand to administer the oath of office to Edward Grinberg as his family, friends and future colleagues from the police department watched from the audience.

Grinberg is a local resident and a graduate of Council Rock. He earned a bachelor’s of arts degree from Temple University and graduated from the Montgomery County Police Academy on June 16.

“It should be noted that Ed selected Newtown Township after being enticed by another agency at a much higher pay scale,” said Chief John Hearn. “He chose Newtown. That goes to his character and his interest in this community. We are fortunate to have Ed on our team.”

The hiring is part of the department’s rebuilding effort following the retirement of several officers and the untimely death of another active duty officer.
