Council Rock Redistricting On School Board Agenda For Thursday

Redistricting will be discussed at the Council Rock School Board meeting this Thursday, but no new maps will be presented, the district has confirmed.

The scope of Thursday's discussion was not immediately clear but district spokeswoman Susan O'Grady said a new concept will not be introduced that night

Dozens of Northampton Township residents have expressed outrage over the initial redistricting proposal, saying it would isolate their children from the community and divide neighborhoods.

The Council Rock Redistricting Committee is now discussing a proposed revised map, according to information from the district. The committee had a meeting earlier this month during which it closely examined boundary modifications. Another meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 13.

Specifics related to the revisions made to the initial proposal have not yet been revealed.

Thursday's meeting starts at 7 p.m. and will be held at the Chancellor Center (30 N. Chancellor St., Newtown).
