Elderly Couple Rescued From Flood By Upper Makefield Employees
An Upper Makefield Police officer and Public Works Department employee saved a couple who was nearly swept away in flood waters May 27.

An Upper Makefield Police officer and Public Works Department employee were honored Tuesday night for saving an elderly couple who was nearly swept away in flood waters late last month.
Officer Gerard Russi and public works employee James McCole received commendations from the Upper Makefield Board of Supervisors for their actions on May 27.
According to information from Upper Makefield police, the couple was holding onto debris in neck-deep water after their car was swept away by flood waters on Eagle Road just north of Stoneybrook Road.

McCole and Russi sprang into action, utilizing a rope to wade into the water and bringing the couple to safety.
"Thanks to their quick actions, the couple was rescued without any injury," police said via Facebook.
