ONE-OF-A-KIND-ART! Create one-of-a-kind works of art inspired by modern artists such as Van Gogh and Picasso using bold colors, patterns, shapes and textures. Design an optical illusion like those of Victor Vasarely! We will learn a number of art techniques while using a variety of materials such as paint, pastel and colored pencils. My World: Mixed Media Self-Portrait. Based on our individual choice of theme, we will begin with a self-portrait, and create a still life of favorite objects and a landscape of a favorite real or imagined place. We will work in the media of our choice to create 2D and 3D elements for an assemblage of a mixed media shadow box that is a true reflection of ourselves. Teaching Artist: Jo-Anne Osnoe. Ages 9-12.
Summer Themed Painting & Drawing NEW! Imagine that you are scuba diving along a colorful coral reef. As you swim along these living formations that have become home to thousands of species of underwater life, what kind of creatures will we encounter? Using that inspiration, we will design our very own fish or aquatic creatures, and then we will create underwater magic pictures! We will also create summer landscapes and pool scenes. We will use acrylic painting techniques and found objects, and we will learn about composition, color and form. Artist Teacher: Robert Esposito, Jr. Ages 5-8.
